I just recently purchased a 1984 xj 1100 threw pods and some straight pipes on it. I was hoping someone knew what size jets I should run and I can't seem to read what is already in my carbs either. Also when my bikes starts pulling hard it seems to pop out of gear. Doesn't matter what gear so I am assuming its something to do with the clutch. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Big mistake my friend, it's a matter of trial and error with the rejetting.

Explain "pop out of gear" better. XJ and XS 1100s are known for comming out of 2nd gear under load, it makes quite a loud ckunking sound when it does. It can also happen in other gears but is unusual. Fixing that requires removing the transmission. If your clutch is just slipping then the engine rpms will just run away with no trans noise. In that case you need to replace the clutch plates and springs. Thats an easy fix.
Trial and error on the pods but the stock jets are 112.5 main and 42.5 pilot.
Since this is a new to you bike do all the scheduled maintenance. Brakes , oil and especially valve adjustment must be done.

    Welcome to the site !!
When you say "straight pipes" , did you keep the factory headers and collector box, or, a complete aftermarket system??

If your bike idles fine, don't touch the Pilot jets.
Depending on the above Q, you need to go up 4 or 6 sizes on the Main jets.
Then you monitor your plugs for additional tweaking, or, spend $85 for a Dyno session with an exhaust analyser.

I just welded straight pipes onto he stock headers and stock two to ones. Oil was just changed and I'm running 10 40. Also what weight should I run in my middle gear? And the clutch seems to slip but I had the plates and springs changed but the basket wasn't in very pod shape so I have on coming.

10/40 car or motorcycle oil. Always use motorcycle specific oil, clutches don't like car oil.
The middle gear case uses 80/90 gear oil, so does the rear. There is a oil level gague in the tool kit, It looks like a plactic cross. Most of the time they get lost over the years. Proper level in the front is about 2 1/2 inches below the top of the gearbox. The rear is 1 inch below the top. Don't overfill either one or it will spit oil out the vent.
