There is a thread on here with someone trying to get those gauges to work. I think it was called "updating to modern gauges" or something. Brake light should be able to be done with a new led relay or resistors.

My only concern would be that the brake light is not DOT approved and may not be bright enough to be seen well in the daylight.

Just how hard would it be to switch over to that gauge? What else did you have to do? Can you still use the stock sensors?

most likely it hooks up like a vapor gauge.... itll take some wiring and reading of an electrical diagram. also the sensors are most likely going to come with the setup... itll be a magnet sensor on the front wheel like a bike computer or a vapor gauge, and the tach is going to hook up to your coils or coil wires to sense the rpm...
with the led's if you switch out the flasher relay with an led flasher relay (cough) EBAY (cough) none of that should be difficult to wire in. by doing that however you may lose the functionality of your auto cancel... something you just get used to lol.

not worried about losing the auto cancel lol... no big deal there. Thanks for the heads up on the relay ;). The Bike is currently being taken apart after a lowsilde so I have time to fiddle with small things. If anyone has any aftermarket gauges that they've done please link some pics!

I Would like to do different front lighting as well....

One would be a white led strip mounted just above my front wheel that flashes slowly...

Saw it on a zx10r and it made him so easy to see when driving in a car.. Any idea on how hard that would be to do?

Would it be easier to have a shop do this side of it? Or just man up and dive in?

For bulb replacements, try superbrightleds.com They have some nice things for tail lights, instrument bulbs, turn signals, etc. Of course, as noted, you will lose auto cancel on the turn signals, but you already said you don't care about that. They make bulbs zzzzs that will plug straight into existing sockets ... which means you could replace your broken ones with OEM design and still get the LED benefits. (reduced power consumption).

for the wheel mount leds, i believe using the same theory as the diy headlight modulator (http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=6 ... lator.html) you should be able to wire them into the headlight circuit etc, i really think it'd be easy, i just wired up led foglights that fit under my crash bars and they were da*n easy to wire, the hardest part was fabbing a mounting plate haha.

I bought an adapter that went to the speed sensor, and had to play with settings for road speed. I modified the fuel gauge sender to work (documented in my project build) I wanted an oil temp sensor, so I re-tapped a thread in the sump plug for the sensor (documented in my project build).

Doing this to a XJ750 Seca, also meant that I had to allow for the fact the seca had the cluster wired in series for fault detection on the lights.

Keep the advice coming! all good so far. Seems like it is do-able but will require some trial and error and patience.

The gauges look awfully expensive. The vapor gauges are a lot cheaper.

Thanks for the heads up on the vapor gauges. I had never heard of them and they're about 1/2 the price. Anyone with any experience with them?

tumbleweed thank you will check that out!

Did you just not worry about a gas light and brights light?

Did it come with the all of the sensors that you needed?

Essentially... I was looking to eliminate most 'extraneous' equipment... But i just wired in a screw in led for the reserve light and forwent the turn and high beam lights... It came with speed sensor, a hook in for oil temp and wires for the tach setup.

I think that I can wait till morning :) thanks man I appreciate it! so essentially you didn't have to really change a ton with it just kind of switch whats already there over and upgrade the speed sensor. good instructions came with it i presume?

Yeah it was really easy, the hardest part was figuring out how an where to mount the speed sensor but i ended up zip tying it to the fork, and have the magnet on the rotor... I wired the gauges power thru the main aux hookup, the blue wire in the junction in the headlight bucket.
here is the sensor on my fork
    [IMG]
here is where i tagged in the wire to the aux connection
    [IMG]
as you can see i relocated my ignition switch...
    there she lies...
i didnt know what exactly to take pictures of, if there is anything in particular you need to see lemme know...

Thanks a ton man that looks really good! Could I get a shot of it on? Where did you move your ignition to? And wouldn't putting it on the rotor mess it up? Maybe I misunderstood..

alright here is where the magnet is located. stuck it there five hundred miles ago, hasnt budged an inch.... i had it there previously because i had a sigma speed bike computer before the vapor.
this feature is why i got rid of the aforementioned sigma speed
    [IMG]
and here is the side cover with starter button and ignition... sorry for the dark pic, late and crappy lights in the garage...

I ordered one of their front fork bracket kits... Yet I didn't even think about that.... damn! Back to the drawing board. I'll probably try and mount it up front down to the left.

Hey man I got my kit and going to start putting it on I also ordered those exact lights you recommended as well. Did you have to change any relays or anything or was it just plug and play?

Also with hooking up the new computer did you use any fuses or just straight to that blue aux power? Does it provide enough?

They are plug n play, except you will need to get a led relay to make them flash (sounds like an oxymoron), and I'm not that far yet, I ran power to check for brightness, but manually flashed them (work in progress) As far as computer, I don't have a clue, I am running the minimum wiring diagram with ONLY headlight, taillight, horn, rear turn signals
