You mean the heads are stripped?

I have used the Craftsman Screw Extractor on numerous frozen carb screws. With patience it even worked on the butterfly screws

I did break one of the bits on a head stud because I was in too much of a hurry. Take your time and they work pretty well.

don't give up on the screws yet. Try a hand held (not air) impact wrench. with a name like cbccanada you should be close to a princess auto, they sell them there.

at the top of "XJ Chat" section in this forum a 5 page thread:

How To Replace Stuck Carb Bowl Drain Screws

...of course, that write-up is for Hitachi carbs. we don't know what you're working on since no other information was provided

Don't bother draining your carbs etc, ADD more fuel to the tank.

I don't know how you guys manage to get problems with seafoam, I really don't. I emptied a full bottle of seafoam into just 2 litres of fuel, and there was no problem at all. No hesitation, no smoke what-so-ever, you couldn't tell visually that there was seafoam in there.

I was extremely disappointed that I didn't get any of the advertised after effects - The thick smoke etc.

i put 4 oz. in a full tank once. funny thing, it starts slower now, but now i can take the choke off sooner. its so weird.

I followed the advice on the forum and removed the bowls from the carbs, screwed them onto a plank of timber and applied heat via a blow torch.

a few minutes and some proding with a slotted srewdriver soon had the little buggers moving.

Tip: don't pick them up of the floor if you drop them..! let them cool first.

ok so i drained the tank with the seafoam in it. couldnt drain the bowls but with a fresh tank of gas she reluctantly started. now she idles bad, very choppy and hesitant accelaration. i mean i used seafoam before to fix these sort of issues never to cause it? she wont idle without full choke...

    whats my next move?
