    what is the purpose of the small rubber pipe from the carb boot to the petcock . do i need to block it of wen the tank is removed to start the engine so it runs smoothly

    It is the vacuum like to the auto fuel shutoff valve that is built into the petcock. Yes you do need to block it when running the engine with the tank off.

    yea it the small pipe . im colour tuning the carbs before i sinc them
