I have a 1981 maxim 550. I rode it everyday for months. Today I turned it into a bobber. I did not do anything electrical until I took all turn signals off and the brake light. I bought a new brake light after I was done with everything frame wize I had the brake light working fine. I was just about to go on my first ride on it. Started right up, then stalled. Now I have no horn, no brake light, starter won't work. But green neutral light is working. It's very confusing what is going on. The light will turn on sometimes if I mess with the wires but if the brake light come on then the green neutral light turns off. It's just a continuos cycle of problems and I have no idea what caused it. Even if I unplug the brake light completely the solonoids dont click and it won't start. Only way the starter will wol is if I just the solonoid but then I'm still not getting spark so it doesn't matter

Jut left the bike for 2 hours went back out turned the key and both solonoids clicked and the green light turned on starter work for a quick second then stopped and all the solonoids start clicking like its shorting out I play around with everything trying to find a loose wire and I can't find anything. After about 10 minute I have no lights again no power

    You did.

You've got a loose connection somewhere; and I suspect strongly it's related to your "bobbing" efforts.

Do you have a book? You need the cable routing and relay location diagrams; I suspect you've now got a loose connection at one of the relays located in the vicinity of where you were working. Or maybe at the solenoid/battery.

If you don't have the necessary reference materials, PM me with your email address and I'll send you the scans.

I'm curious. Is this the same 550 that on June 18, you told us "I have not had this bike for more than a month it sat for almost 6 months outside when I bought it." ?? The one that needs its carbs done and its valves checked? Because it keeps "bogging out?" http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=38136.html

Or is that a different bike, since you've ridden this one "every day for months?"

We can't help you effectively if you "bend the circumstances" hoping for different advice. If this is the bike that you've had less than a month, that sat outside for 6 months before you got it, then SAY SO. Don't tell us you've been riding it every day for months; that presents a different set of parameters for providing answers.

She's fixed. It was the kickstand wires and I had a loose wore up by the headlight.
