Yeah, I like it much better than my dented maxim tank.

It's a 550 Seca tank. Of course it looks good.

Yeah I'd been looking for one and then I found it cheap at a local motorcycle salvage... Rust free. One thing though I've been searching and haven't found a clear answer to is what's the best way to go about shaving the emblem tabs on the tank. Body work isn't my strong suit but I can usually muddle through it.

If that is a dent free tank with nice paint then don't fill the emblem areas. You can make some good money off it. It is very hard to find a nice one. If the paint is messed up and you have dings, then you will need to remove the metal straps for the badges. I used a small cutoff wheel on a dremel. The straps are spot welded to the tank in a few places. Once you get the strap off, grind the welded areas smooth and remove all the paint from the area to be filled. Once that is done, mix up some Bondo and fill the area. Sand it all smooth, prime and paint. The straps must be removed or moisture will form behind the strap and the tank will rust. I have done this on a couple of tanks.

Moses - tell us what mods/alterations you did to get the rear bracket to work, as it's always been said on this Site that 550 tanks won't drop on the 650/750 bikes.

Yeah it wasn't a direct fit. I in the front I had to narrow the two mounts to allow the tank to slide on, and in the back I found the bracket was about 1/2 an inch two far forward so I've chopped it off and welded it on a a bit farther back. Then just had a radiator shop block off the opening for the fuel sender because I didn't trust myself to weld the tank. All said not too bad. I'll get a picture up as soon as I have a chance.

Wonder how well a Seca550 tank will fit on a maxim550, I don't particularly like my small dented maxim tank either. The Seca tank is a better profile.

..of course then I'll be needing a new seat!
