I am restoring a 1982 XJ750 Seca and have the opportunity to purchase a 1981 XJ750 Seca for parts. Can anyone tell me if the engine components are interchangeable? What is different between the two?

What engine components are you looking to interchange?

Well, for starters carbs, boots and air box. Who knows in the future. I wouldn't purchase a whole bike if only a few parts are interchangeable though.

My research is telling me that all XJ750's were YICS. Any additional thoughts?

81 750 seca is a yics as far as I know all parts are the same on all the secas (except they changed from a yellow fog lens [81] to a clear one [82-83] but they still interchange)

There is an 81 Seka 750 for sale in my town that is YICS, so at least some of the 81's were YICS.

Anyone know if $1k is a decent price for a 81 Seka? I'm giving it some thought. Only main issues are no fuel sender, and mismatched keys.

My '81 is YICS, as are ALL '81's (as per Chacal's info)
All parts should interchange from '81 to '84 except Police-specific parts (wouldn't we all love to have the big alternator??)
