82 XJ 550 Maxim For Sale SOLD

I am moving up to a bigger bike, so I am selling my "toy"
It is an 82 XJ 550 Maxim
Has about 14k miles on it
2 new Michellin Macadam 50 tires put on it last year
New battery summer of last year
Heated grips put on fall last year
Front & rear brakes two weeks ago
New chain last year
Just cleaned & rebuilt carbs 2 weeks ago
Windshield last year
Seat recovered 1 1/2 yrs ago
Fork seals replaced last year
New valve cover gasket weeks ago
Have spare coil & carb boots to go along with it
plugs changed yearly
new spark plug caps last yr
Oil & filter every 2k miles (at the most)
Clutch cable 1 1/2 yrs ago
Located in PA

was it left in the snow all winter....if thats what you call that season down there.

is it ready to reg and ins. then ride or does it need anything...im looking for a bike for my wife. and dont want to have to work on it.

Was kept in a heated garage all winter (once the temps got below 30)(Was a mild winter here). I brought it home a few days before our SUDDEN snow storm, so that is the only snow it has seen, other than the occasional flurry while I was riding it. I had been riding it back & forth to work, all of a sudden we got dumped on by a foot of snow, so needless to say, I ended up taking the car to work, It would have been covered, like it usually is when its at home, but I left the cover at work.

I did ride it in the rain though. After the Michellins went on it, it stuck like glue even in standing water. I bought it to ride, not spend my time looking at it.

It needs NOTHING except a bath. Has a current PA inspection sticker on it, I replaced both front & rear brakes, valve cover gasket, rebuilt carbs, and an oil change within past 25 miles.

Since I've have had it (3 yrs) I replaced fork seals, replaced chain, clutch cable, front & rear tires (Michellin Macadam 50's), battery is less than a yr old, windshield is less than a yr old, heated grips were installed in the fall, seat was recovered 1 1/2 yrs ago. Oil & filter was changed regularly (2000miles MAX), plug caps were changed last summer.

I had been riding it up till about 2 or 3 weeks ago, then I got my bigger bike, and can only ride one at a time, so I transfered the plate and the insurance.

I rode it that often (nearly every day back & forth to wrok, rain or shine, even in 30 degree weather) that when I put it outside my work for sale, a bunch of people had to stop in and see if I was ok, because they were so used to seeing me ride it.

was kindof trying to make a joke bout snow. being i live in northern ny next to the lake. and with all the that snow we got in a 2 week period sucked.
anyways can i assume you have a clear title. and where are in in pa----i'm three hours from the border of pa on i-81

It is located in Tamaqua, PA

The reason for the pic with the snow is because someone wanted a pic of it e-mailed to them, so I quickly walked utside & took one. I wanst about to shovel, & I wasnt about to ride it out of the snow (didnt want to slip)

If it would have had knobbies on it, I would have ridden it in the snow, thats how dependable & fun to ride it is, and as I said, I bought it to RIDE it

Yes it has a clear title. I am about 10 minutes off or 81, exit 139, about 1 1/2 hrs south of PA/NY border

I was checking the forum this morning before I went to work, I guess at the same time you were checking it.

Oh Fox, guess what, it was 34 degrees this morning when I took my new bike to work today, and we even got a dusting of snow today. Its all the way up to 35 now.

Bikes are meant to be ridden, not just to look pretty, unless you are one of them hardley riders, then you can polish the crome & check out the oil spots on your garage floor at the same time
