So i have installed my new gauges and everything is fantastic, except the speedo doesn't work. The original one didn't work as well and we have replaced the cable.

I suspect that the gear/drive at the axle isn't connecting the the piece on the wheel. The slots don't seem to be lined up in order for me to put it on. For example I can have them rotated 90 degrees and it stills goes on the same distance as it does if the slots are lined up.

Here is a picture of the outside, it also doesn't slot the entire way onto the forks.

If the gear drive slots are in the grooves on the wheel and the housing slots in the fork grooves correctly, attach the cable to the gear drive and spin the wheel to see if the cable turns.
When I bought my bike the cable was sheared off in the gear drive and wouldn't allow the new cable to go in far enough. Had a hellova time getting it out, so make sure yours is going all the way in. (insert joke here)

Yeah, the problem is that the gear drive slots are not in the grooves in the wheel. It's like they just don't reach.

Is there a part # on the gear drive? Check with Chacal's catalog to match #'s. In the pics it appears to be meshing with the wheel and the forks so maybe it's not the right one.

I had to replace the speed drive clutch on my bike because of this. Those tabs inside on that part can get worn down, especially if improperly installed when taking wheel on and off.

It's a pretty simple part, but I do remember it's a pain to get everything lined up and get wheel back on, making sure the tabs of the drive clutch match up with the slots in the hub. Here is a link to the thread I looked at:

And here's the picture of what I'm actually talking about.

But it looks like your wheel isn't going all the way on, so that may not be the problem, it has to be all the way against the speedo drive gear for it to reach.

Yeah, I think that may be the problem. The "washer" on my bike looks similar to your old one. Perhaps the tabs are just too short.

Or just mashed flat. Common occurrence.
