Need a Maxim X 750 air cleaner assembly!

    Just bought an '85 Maxim X 750 and it has pods on it that aren't doing it...

    Looking to go back to the stock configuration. Let me know if you have a spare airbox and hardware lying around...

    Both my X's came with pods. I ditched them then set them up with the stock airbox as the inlet tubes act as velocity stacks. Added the K&N with a few strategically drilled holes for added airflow. Upgraded the jetting and they run better than new.

    Looks like it needs a good cleaning, but it has the chrome covers (which are hard to find). You'll probably have to get new inlet tubes and clamps for the X (as they are a different size), and a filter too.

    Check with Len at xj4ever.com, as he'll be able to hook you up with all the specific stuff you'll need.

    Oh and just so you're prepared, it's a tight fit to put the airbox in while the engines in place. You have to work it between the frame and the engine. I'd suggest getting the starter out of the way (when you have the carbs off) to give you a bit more room.
