    No it won't.

The only starter that will directly fit a 550 is a starter for a 550.

Why don't you just rebuild yours?

When you say broken down...what do you mean? Is it not turning or is the bike just not starting or what? Replacing starter brushes is normal, and not that big of a deal, just like alternator brushes. They're just tiny copper things, they don't even have to be "official" Yamaha brushes, you can get something that will work at any battery or electrician type store.

I agree with the recommendation to rebuild the one you have is the most affordable option. A few weeks ago when I though I had a starter problem I started looking for the same thing you are. When I could not find a 550 starter I started looking at the 1990 Radian I own. The Radian shares the same case as the 550 and without taking them off they sure look like the same starter. The only thing that may be different is the gear. I looked on Bike Bandit and the radian starter is available. I also had one of the original FZ600's and that bikes case is the same as the 550 and the Radian. If your 550's starter is toast and cannot be rebuilt maybe you can find a radian starter at a junk yard and match them up. Might be worth looking at. Maybe someone else knows why the radian starter will not work.
