I bought my 1982 XJ650 Maxim back in April and was finally able to get it on the road in late June. So far I'm loving the bike, although the road to getting it on the road has been full of nasty surprises (such as discovering the previous owner hard wired the headlight to the battery so he didn't have to replace a bad solenoid).

I've been lurking on the forums since early May and figured I"d introduce myself.

    Welcome.

I'll spare you safety lectures, as that's not my deal, but I'll give you the signature lecture;) Put your bike's make and year in your sig, as well as mods or stuff you've fixed on it, if you want. (you don't have to write a book like me, and even mine isn't everything I've done, just most of it)

But if you put in your sig "82 XJ 650 Maxim ~new brakes ~sidecar" or whatever, then people know what they're dealing with to answer questions, and you don't have to announce it every time.
(and it might save you a "oh my god, you're going to die if you don't check your blinker fluid" type of lecture.)
