Could someone post a shot of an inline fuel filter installed? I know I've seen one here, but I've been unsuccessful finding one in my search of the forums. I'm sure it's simple, but it would help me with the placement and routing if I could see how someone else did it. There's not much room down there. I have an 82 XJ650J.

I've got an 82 SECA and I put my inline fuel filter about a centimeter out from the petcock before it goes into the clip on the carburetors and bends downward to connect to the carburetors. I'm not at home so I can't take any pictures at the moment.

I put mine about an inch from the petcock. The trick is to use brand new fuel line so the line wont kink when it bends towards the center of the carbs. I would send pics but I'm away from home for the week.

I found mine at advanced auto. In you are it might be called chucks auto. Same place just different name. Back in the small engine section. I put in the same spot everyone else here has it in. Cheap insurance. I am at work and bike is at home or I would take a pic for you.

The pic from slickonline does the trick. Just have to find a smaller filter as mentioned in the last post. Thanks!

You can also check out the various type like these:

    Fuel Filters at JP Cycles

I've got the one that looks like this, had to cut out about 1 inch of fuel line, but fits between the carbs just fine:

I got the filter at my mc-mechanic but have also seen it in stores for scooter-supplies.

I put mine behind the upper rear rack; thought about routing it inside the rach between the middle 2 carbs but was afraid the line would kink or the filter vibrate against the diaphragm covers.

I use fairly thick fuelline (ID 8mm).
