    So after getting my bike back from a local mechanic he fixed a vacuum leak, installed my mac 4-1, uni air filter, and went over it to make sure it was safe.

    I plan on having him do a valve job and carbs when winter hits. ( I can't work on my bike at my new place... Crappy room mates)

    Any way since getting it back its acting different. It seems to really hesitate when I get on it even when I am already at 6k it will climb nicely but doesn't roar like it did before. However it really kicks in from 8-10k. It honestly feels like I'm riding something with a turbo. Lag then kicks in... As opposed to just being a monster all the time. Maybe it is because I am having to get on it harder to get it to climb the same... But I got 84 miles out of my last tank of gas. 2.5 gallons... That is 33.6 mpg. While I realize that isn't terrible... I was getting atleast 40 miles more out of a tank before. Does it sound like I need to rejet?

    Btw this guy seems to know what he is doing. Had the manual for my bike and everything. Ase certified and owned his own shop for over 30 years. Plus he was super cheap. Works on bikes and atvs during his free time. Charged me $75.00 for what any "shop" wanted 1k to do.

    Did he adjust the valve clearances and rejet the carbs? Sounds like the carbs need rejetting to me - especially after changing the exhaust and air filter.

    He did not do the valves or the carbs we were saving that for the end of the season when I can give the bike up for a few weeks.

    My thought was rejetting as well.

    To make the modifications work correctly you'll definitely need to rejet.

    If you follow this link there's some rejetting tips towards the bottom based on common modifications. I haven't done any of these myself and it sounds like these are just rough recommendations but it might get you started.

    The experts on this sight will be able to give you a lot of help - but looks to me like you'll have to set your valve clearances and rejet your carbs to get your bike to run correctly again.

    Well, at least CHECK the valve clearances to be sure there's no disasters waiting to happen. That takes only about an hour (the checking.)

    The mods you've made will probably require re-jetting;

    and I would keep a close watch on the plugs until you get it dialed in. You don't want to be riding it and end up holing a piston because you made mods you didn't compensate for.
