So I followed the instructions here:

    http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic ... agram.html

But I wasnt sure with this post if there were other plugs that I needed to reconnect, I believe there are about 5 connectors that I had to disconnect on my Maxim...but it only shows how to reconnect the tail light and headlight.

Is there anything else I'm missing to get my maxim back together before I put my battery back in and try to start it? Are the other wires useless? Can I trace them back and remose them entirely?

Thanks for all of your help!

two jumpers, brake light and tail light and three wires for the headlight.

I took it out today and noticed my right turn signal just stays on and doesn't flash. And that my brake light is always on now. Any reason this would happen if I followed the instruction correctly?

right turn signal just stays on and doesn't flash, when you turn it on or all the time ?
brake light is always on now, like the tail light should be.
maybe you should check those connections again.
you can find the diagrams here

So I figured out the brake light. The right signal stays on when I turn it on only.

Signals flash because of current draw. Check both sockets, both bulbs, etc. If it's not drawing enough current the flasher won't cycle. If the left works, then it's something to do with the signals themselves or their wiring. Both sides use the same set of guts in the flasher itself.

ok, i'll have to look into the wiring later. It all looks correct, but a double check never hurt.

I've been thinking about finally doing the minimal wiring and start really taring into this thing, but am on the fence about it since its august and it runs perfectly...might have to hold off till next month when it rains and makes me wonder why I own a motorcycle in Oregon...

I had put aftermarket signals on my bike and i have only done the front so far because the lights dont flash before 1700rpm which i understand is current draw issue could i just change the bulbs to lesser ones to make this work or are there any easy fixes. Before i start to dig into changing other lights.

Ps i inspected my brushes and the are worn but not to bad
