Out of now where in the last couple days i have been pouring oil out of my crank case breather at first i found my breather filter a kn the the po put on fell apart in my have and now i have a new one on and the proble continues. I understand that the normal cause of this is to much oil but i havent touched my oil for at least a couple months. The oil has no gas smell. Its just good and black but not where it should be all over the back of the motor and most importantly the rear tire ( which scares the hell out of me that its covered while i ride).

Also is there a dipstick mod for this bike cause i have about had it with this sight glass bs.

Also i was thinking i have parial blockage possibly that would explain the extra pressure is this possible

Check your compression. You might have a bad cylinder and your getting too much blow by from a damaged pistion or rings.

That is a good point i know that my number one cylander is alays running a little rich. But i have no loss of power and no smoke that i would expect for that. I plan on rebuilding the motor this winter while the body is at paint.

But is there any way to check the oil pump for issues cause i also have notice that the vlaves seem a bit louder now but i was atributing that to the loss of oil. Could that have something to do with my oil issue.

The puddle under the bike is about the size of a salad plate i would say.

If #1cylinder is running too rich it could be washing the oil off of the rings enough so they won't seal. In which case you would get pressure going down into the crankcase and blowing the oil out the breather tube.

Where is the oil level in the window? Overfilling will cause excess oil to come out the breather . Remember the bike has to be level to check. Putting the bike on the centerstand works best.

I suspect horrible overfill. If it's black you need an oil change anyway.

    -Drain the oil.

-Replace the filter. Fram CH6003, widely available and it comes with the o-rings.

-Add 2.4L (about 2 1/2 quarts) of 20W50 MOTORCYCLE oil, like Castrol 4T. NOT car oil, not synthetic.

You can't use a dipstick, the clutch is right under the filler hole and would chew it up.

You check the oil with the bike on the CENTERSTAND and having been OFF for at least 10 minutes. On the 550, it should come right up to the top mark but you should still have a slight bubble at the top.

You should not see any oil in the sight glass with the bike on the sidestand.

Well im just gonna change the oil anyway its time. But why would it come out now so long after i changed it. Im gonna try to dial in the first carb it needs rebuilt i would think that they all do but i was wanting to wait till winter when i would do the valves to. I found the complete 44 piece gasket set for 120. So im thinking im gonna do the whole thing( this way i can do the valves easily). Ill change it and then ill let you guys know whats going on

2.5 is the right amount. The amount should also be cast into the case near the filler opening in cc.

I'll have to look in a 550 Seca owners' manual.

The number cast into the case on a 550 is 2200CM3, or 2200cc's (2.2L, just over 2 quarts.)

You want to run about a 200cc overfill to keep the level at the top; so about 2.4L (2.5 quarts) MAXIMUM.

If you put 3 quarts in it you overfilled it big time.

Valves need to be checked every 5000 miles. Don't make it into some major project and keep putting it off; check the clearances already.
