(the Nice Jugs update) progress on the project

It’s been a struggle to make progress on the project over the past few months do to summer travel requirements but I managed to take a full tower computer with me when traveling and a collection of small parts assembly’s to work on when time allowed.

I managed to complete the modeling of the gas cap, and the seat release / helmet lock while remote from my usual shop so the project isn’t completely stalled.

Do to the size of parts I can only work on the engine castings when I am home but I did make some progress on the cylinder head. The JPG of the head and valve cover shows the progress, obviously the head model is very incomplete and rough at this stage.

Knowing the depth of his work. I would have to say he most certainly did. Right down to the tiny tumbler springs.

If I didn't know that the gas cap was a cad rendering. I would almost swear it was a pic of an actual part. Excellent work as usual.

After another 10hr of work the head casting is getting closer to a presentable model. For validation I added the cam hold down caps and even managed to model the spark plug to test the combustion chamber shape etc.

the head casting in this test rendering is still missing some features but it is getting to the point of being recognizable and useful to check the fit of the other parts.

If you see any errors in the head casting please point them out, with this process sometimes after looking at something for a long time you miss something obvious.

I am hoping to use this work to someday help others fix their bikes and keep so many machines from needlessly hitting the parting out phase or existing as a basket case.

Current overhaul manuals are to complex and wordy so I thought if I could make them more like a 3D video game backyard mechanics would be less intimidated. Think about taking something apart in the computer-generated environment before you take it apart for real. Then think about having a 3D model / map when it is time to reassemble something after forgetting what it looked like assembled.

The test renderings I am showing are only a minor part of the content.

Well I am still in traveling mode so I can only work on small portable parts. Winter is on approach so shop time should open up soon allowing progress on larger components. The test rendering is of the latest parts to undergo the modeling process.

You will see that the individual wires are missing from the image, I can only accurately complete the connections after the final placement of the parts in the assembled motorcycle model, and then I can model each wire in the correct path / place.

If your curious why some renderings are shifted to the right this is because I add them to my computers background as a slide show and shifting the image allows room for my icons on the left side.
