PREFACE: Oh this is just too sad. My husband and I started building project bikes to be able to ride together. We had got pretty far along on both machines when it was discovered that he has a spinal injury that is inoperable (beforehand we had been told that he had a shoulder issue that would be easily fixed so we'd been moving forward with both projects until it was discovered that it was much more serious). It involves vertebra T7 and if he should fall there is a good chance he'd be paralyzed. He's ridden since 1973 and motorcycles were his whole life. He decided to quit the hobby altogether to avoid the temptation so he won't get hurt and put me in a position of caring for him for the rest of our lives. We have hundreds of hours of time in this 1982 XJ650J and a good deal of money as well. So as they say, our misfortune is your gain. We need to part out both bikes to pay ongoing medical bills (his is a different bike, selling elsewhere). So I'll be placing a series of ads here in this forum that detail groups of parts as we go along. Best wishes, Abeja.

This ad is for the COMPLETE FRONT END

1980 Yamaha XJ650J Maxim Front End.

It's one of several parts we were going to use on my '82. Totally cleaned up and has been cosmetically reworked. Great quality Duplicolor gloss black paint was used. It's arrow-straight, works fine, and doesn't seem to leak. No pitting on the stanchions either..

    $125.00 plus s/h.

We'll disassemble the front end and we make our own boxes up so that the box is as small as possible - which keeps shipping down as low as we can possibly get it.

Please PM me if you're interested or have questions. :)

    Thank you!

Best wishes and be well -- Abeja.

Just to give you an idea of what the forks box up to be, here's the dims of the carton:

36 x 11 x 6 at roughly 37 pounds. We construct a very solid boxing setup using a few layers of overlaid cardboard and an industrial contact cement to stick it all together.

With these dimensions you may be able to figure out your own shipping costs. It will ship from zip code 85365.

We've found that USPS Parcel Post is easily the least expensive way to go. Select slow boat shipping when figuring costs, it saves quite a bit on large volume items. WAY less expensive that UPS or FedEX.

    Thanks! Abeja ... :)

i would buy it if it had the front brake housing also. -_- but a friendly bump for you anyway.

did the paint do the "orange peel" thing on the top?

(cough cough, include front brakes.... and i say deal)

No, no problems with the paint at all. It looks very good to be honest. The top triple clamp is a non-smooth casting and the Duplicolor paint just does a great job of hugging every detail.

Please check your PMs - :)

Hi Jambo, I've had computer issues all weekend. I'll get to your quote straight away here. :)

I certainly apologize for the delayed reply. I hope I haven't missed an opportunity.

    Bump.

And a reminder that if you're interested to PM ME PLEASE.

Also, if you have me take the time to figure up the shipping costs and work out the special shipping requests you would like to have dealt with, please at least write me back to let me know one way or the other about what is going on. I've had to deal with a few matters of wasted time so far, it's considered good decorum to at least let a seller know where the situation stands. There may be others waiting on your reply to know if a given item is still available or not. I don't like having to sound snarky but this has been a problem (a few times!) with this item for some reason.

    In summary:
So .... PM ME if you're interested (don't post something here in the thread, I may not see it)

And .... please follow up on any communications. There may be others wanting to know if a given item is still available or not, and your follow-up PM may be the determining factor. Basically, take other's time into consideration.

Thank you. And sorry this had to get said. I've lost 2 opportunities to sell this particular item due to time being wasted by inconsiderate people inquiring about this front end. We're all ~people~ here, let's not treat sellers like something less than that, ok?

Wow do I dislike having to say stuff like this. It makes me feel awful.

Thank you, best wishes - Abeja ...
