My petcock has a second nipple, im assuming for a vacuum hose, but my bike never came with one. I just took the carbs off to clean again and was wondering do I need a vacuum hose for my 1980 Yamaha xj650 maxim? and if so where does it connect to. I've looked online for the answer and my manuals but I dont see anything about a vacuum line. Please assist, thanks.

#3 carb to intake boot I believe, should have a vac line going to the petcock.

In the RUN and RES positions that petcock requires vacuum to flow fuel (or is supposed to) so that if the carbs start peeing fuel, it won't drain the whole tank.

The PRI position will flow fuel regardless of vacuum.
