honda shadow backfiring

    I also have a 1984 shadow recently it stared backfiring everytime i try to ride it at this point it is unridable could anyone please give me some ideas what the problems are?

    More info needed. Backfiring when letting off throttle, or all the time. Loud or more like a sputtering.

    Do a compression test-first order of business. Easy to do and will give a good idea where to go next. And while you do this look at your plugs to see if they tell you anything. If you haven't seen one before do a search on reading plugs.

    Also, pull the plugs and see how they look. Post a pic of them if you can.

    I have a 86 Shadow that had some backfiring issues.
    I only needed to adjust the carbs. But As a gentleman above already said, really we need more info, when does it backfire?
