Newbie to forum, newbie to road bikes but an old chick.

    Salutations,

    Just wanted to say hi. Newbie here. Hoping to gain much information on my first road bike. I lurked and searched through the forums previously to do some reading on my bike. I signed up finally, as I'm looking for a speedometer. My needle spun right around last night and snapped off after making much noise and behaving like it was overtaken by some being... Mr. Speedy and I have been sharing the bike, I'm not fully licensed so I can't ride with passengers. Sitting on the back...got tired really fast. We need a second bike.

    I had a really awesome story and photo to share of Max...but can't seem to make it small enough. :cry: I'll figure it out eventually.

    Welcome speedqueen. Use photobucket and link the picture over - that way they can be as big as you want. It takes a few minutes to figure it out but it's really easy when you get used to it.

    Looks like you have a Maxim? - what year?

    Hi,

    It's an 82 Maxim 650. I just managed to add the pic in my album. Not sure if anybody else can see it. Thanks for the photobucket tip. I'll scoot on over there.

    ok heres the riot act:). Check the rear brake! Delaminates over time. Check Date codes on tires and brake lines(lines are good for 3 years Mine said 81). Check valve lash. replace fuses if the old round type. Run through the service book.
    Put your bike in the signature. will help in the future.
