    What's up guys. New owner of an XJ650 Seca. Not sure what year, the guy I bought it from said '84 but others have thought it may be older. I'll post up a pick sometime. Just wanted to introduce myself cuz i'm sure i'll be needed all sorts of help being a newb to carbs and whatnot.

    add you location to your account info may be someone near you that could give you a hand if you have problems. If you are in the US it is likely a 82 (only year they were sold in the US) unless it was imported by an individual later. Also pretty sure they were not produces anywhere in 84. you can figure it out for sure using this http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=14577.html or just post your vin and we can decode it for you.

    Good to now. The kid I bought it from got it from a friend. He had other bikes and decided to let go of the XJ, didn't seem know much about it. It seems to run pretty well though. Idles a little high at like 1100, and is a pain to get into neutral, and has squeaky front brakes. I'm hoping a carb clean and sync will sort the idle out. Also setting the valve spacing? Not sure what to do about neutral though.

    Neutral problem - I assume you haven't too much play at the clutch lever/cable end?
