Our housemate bought one similar to that but in red. Nice bike but there's a couple of things you should know:

    1) Polishing all that chrome is a pain. I watch him polish that for an hour before he's satisfied with how it looks.

    2) That bike has wonderful pickup but a lower top-end than the XJ bikes.

    3) You're lucky you have the seat you have on that bike because if you had the one that was slightly "flatter" you'd slid off if you accelerated too quickly with that bike. I watched our housemate (20 year rider) do it and then complain after he came back from his ride.

    4) No centerstand is a pain. I suggest buying the nice "ashtray" that Harley sells to put under the kickstand.

    5) That key will fit but not start a Craftsman lawn tractor. (I got a good laugh when my friend did that. "Why won't the mower key turn?")

Enjey the ride though! Two wheels and a motor is good regardless of the model!

I do hope that you don't feel you must leave simply because the metal of your ride has changed. Knowledge comes from all quarters and you are part of the equation. Stick around won't you?

You are gonna love the Sporty. Nice looking bike-
My other ride-on is a 2005 XL1200R (Roadster)- and while it is completely different from my antique XJ, it is nice to have modern brakes, frame, etc.
You may need to give the HD time to grow on you, but after that, it's smiles-per-mile time.
Here's a great forum for the XL series: www.xlbikes.net
    Ride safe and enjoy!

I still glance around at the forums once in a while but ive gotten very busy.
"Polishing all that chrome is a pain. I watch him polish that for an hour before he's satisfied with how it looks." Haha I hear ya I just washed, and polished my bike and it took awhile, also I got a job at the local Harley Davidson shop (JL Harley). Guess what I do there, wash bikes that have just been worked on. Im getting pretty good so its easier.
