Check the valve clearance 5 inlet valves too tight under the 0.10 (0.11 /0.20 must have been)

is also equal to the timing looks at ,now it appeared that the exhaust cams shaft on the brand and the inlet to allow character certainly 3 teeth wrong

If the first cyl on TOP DEAD CENTER sty how are the noks on the cam of the inlet than. on 7 clock or 2 clock

Hi firebird. My name is Joe and I live in Denmark. I'm used to having conversations with folks who don't speak fluent English, but I am having a great deal of difficulty understand some of what you've written.

I understand what you are saying about valve clearance. I'm guessing that "timing looks at" has to do with the timing marks that you line up with camshaft and the marks on the cam chain tensioner.

I cannot grasp what you are saying here:

"now it appeared that the exhaust cams shaft on the brand and the inlet to allow character certainly 3 teeth wrong (he can simply walk, he went well above the 4000rpm??? )
have the crankshaft 20 times turned around but stay the same

If the 1 cyl on TOP DEAD CENTER how are the bosses of the in/outlet than. The inlet just have been opened or the is in the point to open up. the same with the exhaust cams shaft

I can think of two possibilities which might help you out. One is, I could send you part of the repair manual that deals with cams, valve adjustment, cams, etc. The other is that you get help from someone who is Dutch who also speaks very good English, so we can better understand your questions.

There is an XJ owners group on Facebook with at least one person who is located in Holland. He might be of help to you.

It's no problem... hope I didn't come accross as criticizing, because that's not what I mean at all. When I first started learning Danish, it wasn't pretty!

    Firebird and Jobee,

Hmmmmm, Valve clearances, cams, sprockets, chain-tensioner, TDC, high rpms...is he maybe trying to re-set his timing? Also, re-post this in the "CHAT" forum. More members read and reply to "CHAT" posts than FAQ's.

Good point. Never dawned on me about timing, cause it's not something I've had to fool with. Figured it all was bundled into valve clearance adjustment. And I didn't even notice that this wasn't regular chat, duh!

    Firebird,

Re-post this thread in the "CHAT" forum. More members will reply. If you are trying to re-set your timing...it's important that you follow your manual. The DOTS on your CAMSHAFTS will align with the marks on the CAMSHAFT CAPS closest to the sprockets. You will align the CAMSHAFTS by using a OPEN END WRENCH (SPANNER) ON THE CAMSHAFTS in the area that looks like a NUT. Your CRANKSHAFT should be at TDC and should stay at TDC!
