Help, When I run my 1985 Maxim at 1000-2000 rpm it performs great.
As soon As I hit 3000 rpms it gets stuck there.
I have had a NEW throttle cable installed. I have had the carbs clean. fresh gas. new spark plugs.
    Can anyone help?
    thanks
    Ric

Check and adjust (wet-verify and wet-set) your float levels.

Then do a running vacuum sync. There's more to carbs than cleaning.

How many miles on the bike? The "X" still needs its valve clearances attended to regularly; albeit on a much longer schedule.

If whoever "cleaned" your carbs didn't actually know what he was doing, it's more likely a case of needing simple, proper adjustment.

"Hanging" idle is generally a symptom of an out of sync condition or wonky float levels, or both.

How's it run at say, 9000 rpm? (Not on the stand, of course, under load.)

I currently cannot run the bike. It is at my mechanics, Turner Built. The Bike stuck at 3000 rpm even when I revved it under load. ( I'm a fat one. 300lb.)
No matter what I did it stayed at 3000rpm. When the bike sat for a bit it did run normal until I hit 3000 rpm.
    I hope this helps
