    Hi,

I have had a small spill that snapped my clutch lever on my bars so i replaced it. now the clutch doesnt engage. Is this due to that dumbass electric bullshit unneccessary bullshit saftey wire going into the clutch handle and if so how do i bypass this bullshit.

that wire only has to do with the start circuit relay nothing to do with the actual operation of your clutch, all it does is make it so you cant start your bike in gear without the clutch pulled and side stand up.. Check the lower mount for the clutch cable and make sure you have the cable adjusted correctly.

The switch at the clutch lever stops the starter from engaging, electrically, if the bike is in gear and the clutch isn't pulled.

so it technically it has nothing to do with the mechanical side of the clutch... although it does sound like your clutch cable might be too tight if it's not engaging after replacing the lever.

The safety circuit is far from BS, it's there to protect you from yourself. Based on the tone of your post, not such a bad idea.

The guys are right; the clutch switch has nothing to do with your issue, it's part of the safety circuit.

Make sure the spill didn't damage any of the brackets for the cable and dependent upon where the damage was, be sure the lever moves freely. You need 1mm~3mm free play at the lever.

Don't blame the bike because you dropped it when you're asking a bunch of guys who love their XJs for help.

    It's not the bike's fault.

Look, I can tell you're a little frustrated, and anybody who has read any of my posts would tell you that I'm NOT one of the "serious" people on here.

That being said, and since this is your first post you don't know. This forum isn't like most of the internet. I can't stress this enough. People can express themselves and disagree, but no "flame wars." Likewise, the moderator is gonna swoop in on ya for the language. I swear all the time, and I don't have a problem with it, but I know how this forum works, so I don't do it.

EDIT: I know you didn't flame anybody, I just mentioned it as a sort of FYI:)

As for your question. Easy solution is just replace the clutch switch. It CAN be bypassed, and easily at that. But I don't feel comfortable being responsible for showing someone how to start their bike with it in gear and the clutch released.

But, it doesn't sound like the safety system has anything to do with it. It would stop bike from starting, not from clutching. Loosen that lever, make sure the throw-out lever is in the right position, adjust it at the bottom, then make fine adjustment at the knob on the handle bars.

But hey, Welcome to the forum, LOL
