Building up my 81 Seca 750 and would like to locate the battery under the seat, however I would have to lay it on it's side. Not likely with a normal battery. I've read one post that said do not use gel batteries. Anyone used one? Any other suggestions?

I would go AGM if you can... can't remember why your not supposed to use gel.

When I got my bike it had a 5 year old AGM in it. Started in the dead of winter with zero effort.

Can you run an AGM battery on its side?

Yes, AGM batteries can be oriented in any configuration. Another reason why they are great batteries for bikes, beyond their vibration resistance and other great properties.

Motobatt Battery seems like a good one. A little expensive though.

I run a Motobatt, haven't needed to use my c-tek charger in the 2.5 years I have had it.
