Is there a way to wire lights to be tail/brake/signals?

I am still new to the bike thing and completely inexperienced with electrical things, but is there a way to have 2 small taillights that will be both brake lights and turn signals? I like symmetry and am not a fan of the "model a" lights that are sometimes mounted on one side of the bike. Plus I don't want the clutter of seperate brake lights and signals. Does such a way exist?

Yes. You need a dual filament bulb on each side, the wiring to go with it and a trailer light control box.

I have one if you search for my build thread you'll see it. It combines brake/turn into one bulb and you use the tail light filament for that circuit.

JP cycles sells a controller unit also. About 70$ though.

if you are running led they need to be built as a 2 function light and you will need an electronic flasher to replace the stock mechanical one. then wire them to the trailer unit. or you can try to find some that are already built as 3 function lights.

Are amber lenses legal in MI? If not, you will need red lenses for stop lights.PO converted my turn signals to dual filaments. I disconnected running light function, amber not legal.Check out Custom Dynamics, got a neat LED stop/running light from them.

I know for sure the taillight/stoplight has to be red. And I'm pretty sure here in Michigan the turn signals have to be separate from the taillight.

Unless you want to argue with a State Trooper about it. I'm sure you know how well that always works.

I thought I read somewhere that you didn't even need turn signals in MI. You would think then it wouldn't matter if they were the same light.

I have their tag lights with a red LED out the back. Keep the plate lit.

I'm not sure about the laws in MI. Never been there. If it were it'd probably be motorcycle specific. My truck and my jeep both flash a red light for turn signals in the rear.

Anyone ever try those light bars at customdynamics.com that do signals and running/brake?
