I was surprised to find out that the air assist on the 750's fork actually would hold air for any significant period of time....but it would still leak down to nothing over about 2 days. I bought a new valve core, being the simplest thing and easiest to rule out, but it changed nothing.

A few days before I left town for a week, kind of on a whim, I took the core out, shot a nice long stream of WD-40 in the port, replaced the core, pumped 'em up to 24 psi and took it for a little ride.

I rolled it into the garage today, intending to air the fork up for the first ride since I got back...but I did notice it appeared to be standing up like it still had pressure...and I was really stunned to see that it was still holding 24 psi, right where I left it...

I'll let ya know how it holds up as time goes on...

WD-40...is there anything it can't do? LOL....

That "port" is open to the interior of the fork. You've added WD-40 to your fork oil.

No worries. Not enough to make a difference.

a real valve cap has a o-ring in it so it doesn't matter if the valve core leaks

Didn't have a cap when I got the bike, but I got some nice metal hex caps with o-rings for it and the wheels.

I was just thinking...this happened after I'd noticed that my fork seal's apparent leak had stopped after riding it with the higher fork pressure...

Don't know if the WD-40 had facilitated that in some way as well, or if airing up higher and riding it just forced some crud out of the seal's way finally.

Not that I care...long as it stays like it is, I'm happy.

Could be that the high air pressure pushed outward against the seals and thus gave them a good tight seal. If it had taken them two days to leak down the seals could not be that bad.

Yeah I find that to be about the best for me.

I weigh 270 though...if I weighed less it would probably be too stout...

I had it at 34 once, just to see...WAY too stiff...didn't wanna conform to the road in a curve, etc...dangerous, really...
