I have a friend going to look at a 750. It has a restructured title, so I recommended he take the fairing off and do a very detailed frame inspection.

I've never had a faired motorcycle; my only experience with fairings was my scooter, which had fairings that would come off with just a screwdriver. How hard are the 750 seca fairings to remove?

If its the small fairing there are only 4 bolts holding it on. So its an easy job. Not sure about the full fairings.

I am talking about the full fairing, but that's good to know.

If it is either the Yamaha Tour Pack or Vetter fairing, there should be a couple bolts (4 IIRC) on the bottom that separates the fairing from the frame mount and there should be a wiring harness connector that unplugs. Should just lift off.

I can confirm there are four bolts connecting the Vetter fairing to the fairing bracket.

Now the following ONLY applies to the Vetter fairings (they will likely say 'Windjammer' on either side):

If you are on the bike looking down the steering column, inside the fairing you will see four bolts, two on each side. They are at the front and back sides of the flat part of the bottom of the fairing.

Don't forget the wiring harness connected down at about the height of the bottom triple tree on the left (from sitting on the bike).

If there are lower extentions installed (if the fairing goes past the bottom of the tank and down covering the engine) those only attach to the body of the fairing using 4 bolts on each side: 3 on the outside and 1 on the back (the side facing the rider).

You CAN remove the fairing with lower extensions if you are careful without damaging the unit, however it might be a good idea to remove the lowers before removing the fairing. It takes a flat head screwdriver.
