...a guy is on the way over to look at the 750, and if he's got the right amount of bills in his hands, it may go home with him.

I got the rug pulled out from under me since I bought this bike, and I'm outta work...so progress has pretty much ground to a halt. There's no way I could have it roadworthy and legal before we run outta riding season anyway...and I need the money NOW.

I told him about this site and I know you guys will provide him with the top notch advice I've come to value here...even when I don't follow it

Makes me almost sick to sell it...I was really getting attached and now that I've got so much work into it and familiarity with it and its quirks, I feel a bond...I've actually in some ways been trying to sabotage my own attempts to sell it by being incredibly forthcoming about everything I know is wrong with it...which usually turns people away...because they don't realize that anything else in the same price range is gonna be fulla bugs too, but the seller is just not gonna tell them about it...they'll have to figure it out on their own...I don't do that to people...wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I did.

This guy seems very talented with bikes, and familiar with what a 30 year old bike is gonna need...and understands everything I've described is just par for the course...so hopefully he takes a liking to it and it finds a new owner who can be even better to it than I can...but a small part of me hopes he doesn't...

Anyway, regardless of what happens, I'll still be around, bike or no. I like reading all the issues here and maybe helping out in a small way when I can...or making people even more confused...whichever...

And if it sells, when the time comes to buy another, I have no doubt I'll be hunting down another Max...I love these bikes!

That's a bummer. But hopefully things will improve for you and you'll find another XJ to fall in love with. Good luck.

Sorry to hear Jeff. I know how it is though. I had an XS650 that I brought back from the dead, put so much work into it - rode it for a season and then had to sell it to make a mortgage payment when the economy got bad - that was really hard to let go of.

Sorry to hear that she is gone. I did that once back in the 80's. Got rid of one I really loved. Never did it again and I have been through some really bad spots. I found that the short time gain of a few dollars just delayed the inevitable by very little. So I only get rid of things on my terms and when I feel the time is right. BUT you have to do what you feel is right at the time for you. Hope your back on two wheels soon!
