Parts compatibility question

    Would a 82 xj maxim 650 tank/petcock and carb rack fit on a 81 xj maxim 650?

    yes they will. I think the pilot air jet is a different size though but not really a big deal to swap them out.

    It will fit, but keep in mind that the 82 was a YICS engine, the 81 was a NON-YICS engine. So, as Mav said, there may be jet differences. Also, do your homework.....some jets were a fine-thread and some were a coarse-thread.I'd check with Len on which was which just to make sure. JUST an FYI...If you end up having to replace carb-to-manifold boots be aware that there are differences there between the YICS and NON-YICS boots.

    I successfully adapted "coarse thread - 650" carbs to my '81 Seca 750 by swapping all the internals.
