Okay guys I ordered a center stand.... turns out that the mounts were damaged in my wreck. So the center stand doesnt sit straight... One side is higher than the other. So it also won't sit right if I were to mount it when it is down.

SO what can I do? super frustrated. I've been waiting on a stand to do work on it and now I can't...

I've been told that I can't change the oil correctly without one either...

I don't have a center stand on mine either, yet managed to bob the entire bike and change the oil multiple times while making do with just the side kickstand. If I ever needed the bike in an upright position (e.g., for an oil change), I gently leaned the right hand-grip against a wall in the garage (maybe use a rag to avoid scratching), placed a brick/board or two under the kickstand on the left side to eliminate the lean, and placed heavy objects on either side of the front wheel to securely fix it in a straight position. This method won't pitch the bike forward, like using a center stand would, but it's an option.

Alternatively, and if you have the means, you might try running a soft tow strap through the rear portion of the frame and mechanically lifting it off the ground. Granted, you'd likely need to take extra measures to prevent the bike from tipping.

Of course these are just makeshift options, so consider them as you will.

depends what you're trying to do -

For a final fix, I would just fab up some new mounts and weld them to your frame. bingo, fixed.

If thats not something you have the skills or tools to do now, then what you can do is place a 2x4 or 2x6 under the collector box and then just use a floor jack to jack the front end of the bike up enough to get it level.

A few straps to prevent it from tipping over wouldnt hurt, but for doing an oil change its not like you'll be shaking it around alot.

Is the collector box like the oil pan? I need to take my forks off to rebuild them do an oil change and somehow change my rear brake? Can I change the rear with it just on the kick stand?

The collecto box is the crossover pipe for the exhaust. My bike was lacking the center stand for a while. I've had it propped up on a jack to do some work in the past.

You can't bend the mounts back into place?

collector box is the part of the exhaust that "collects" the exhaust from the 4 header pipes and feeds it to the two mufflers. I wouldn't recommend supporting the weight of the motor cycle on that under any condition.

If you remove the exhaust and support the frame/oil pan with a scissor jack or 2x4s, you shouldn't have a problem.

I think you should get someone to repair the center stand mounts. It'll be well worth it. I don't even want to consider a motorcycle without one anymore

deff cant change the rear brake with it on the sidestand, the drum is a part of the wheel, and its not like you can take the rear wheel off with the bike on the side stand.

you could park it in a garage where there is some strong support beams in the ceiling and use some come alongs and straps around the frame rails under the seat and winch the rear in the air...

but as another person said, the right and best thing to do is to just modify the mounting tabs so that you can put the center stand on.

Ill have to ask around to see what someone would charge for that. They're bent so it lines up but one side is higher than the other. So it would have to be bent or welded or something.
