Got the caliper unbolted and realized I can't do anyting... I don't know how to get the pads out or how to change them. Every demo I watched doesnt seem to apply to my brakes. I am trying to do the front ones but need to do the rear soon but hoping someone answers my center stand question so I can.

Here are pics of what I have brake wise. I can't get the back cover off that says it is to be removed for service of the pads.... I tried prying and pulling. I can't get them off.

You need a service manual first.
To take the pads out remove the plastic cover, remove the retaining clips for the pins then slide the pins out. The pad retaining pins usually are stuck , a pair of pliers helps to grab them. Don't loose the pad spring. While you are at it a caliper rebuild ia a good idea. You don't want to ruin new pads because the calipers are stuck.

I have one. The issue I am having is that plastic cover won't come off. I tried prying, pulling, and pinching it. It will not come off. the plastic just starts to bend and stress. I've even tried prying from both sides.

I am in between jobs and on a budget so I would prefer to not have to break it and replace it. I believe the term I was taught here was "gumption". So I am doing my best to be patient. My service manual just says it should be removed. A demo online says it just falls off or may need to be pinched. I am seeing stress fractures in the material from me trying at it... There has to be something that I am missing.

One of your assistant's fingers is pointing at the area where a screwdriver is usually pushed against so that the plastic "lip" inside the cover is pushed inwards away the caliper and releases it. Usually very easily...the only other idea I have is that you you carefully squeeze the two sides together with vice grips.

I just did the same thing last weekend - brakes are squeaky clean now!

PM me if you have any specific questions.

Also, don't lose the spring clips (and don't break them :S) and make sure you put them back in the same orientation as before!

Oh don't worry about those, those are just cotter pins to keep the rods from walking. You should be able to find new ones at a hardware store.

I'm talking about the metal dealy that holds the pads in place (it likely shot you in the face when you pulled the first rod out).

Ahh yes it did lol. So those are a pretty common part? I went to an Auto zone and they didn't. So like an Ace, or lowes, or Home Depot should have them?
