Please forgive me while I brag...a little. I just uploaded a pic of a bunch of gauge assemblies. I've been collecting pieces and parts as they became available, and have slowly assembled them into some 'near show condition' gauge sets. Take a quick look!

Here's a direct link, hopefully if works for you....it does for me.

Like I said in the subject line, try not to drool too heavily on your computer!!!!! :)

    Very nice indeed.
Could you possibly label each of these as to which bikes they are from. I have one XJ 750 Seca that will go back together as an original with the Atari Dash. I also have another XJ750 Seca that I will only slightly modify and one other that may be turned into a Cafe racer....if and when the budget allows. So one oofthese guages may come in handy for the slightly mod bike.
    Cheers

ive never thought about doing something like that, if you can get them parts cheap enough and build them and make them new looking but working well, they could be a nice little investment down the track, good onya,

the bottom sets are for the XJ700...the two with the temp gauge in the middles are specifically for the X.

The top three are all for the XJ550/650/750maxim One of the sets is for the earlier ones with the mechanical tach and the other two are for the later ones with the electronic tach. They will also be corect for the Midnight Maxim IF you swap the chrome back cover for a black back cover.

PMJ....none of these will work with the atari wiring harness without a lot of re-wiring of the harness.

I doubt I can consider these an "investment' other than I've invested a bunch of money in loads of cheap sets looking for the few good parts to save and rescue. I'll probably make my money back, but that's about it. It's more for the fun of doing it,seeing IF I can complete a nice set, and then looking at the whole batch of them, too. ;) Hope that makes some sense.

Would it be possible to swap a a set of xj700 gauges with the fuel gauge onto a 750 max without the atari? (83)

Just curious for down the road.

    Nice gauges Dave!

I'm sure there is SOME way to do it, but the bikes' wiring harnesses are completely different.

The 83 750 maxim has the fuse box under the seat. The 700 harness has the fuses in the instrument cluster. The 700 also has the glass reed switch for the turn signals in the back of the speedo body whereas the 750 has the blinker down under the tank.

It MAY be possible to do a complete wiring harness swap, but then you'd have to do some un-taping, and possible splicing to lengthen/shorten wires in order to correctly locate the tci and rectifier. I'm not sure what else might be at a different location. I'm also ASSUMING that the connections coming off of the alternator, timing plate, etc.... will be the same. The battery locations are also different..............

    Others will probably chime in.

Ahh, lots of hassle just for a fuel gauge and some pretty gauges.

Fwd controls first at least :D

Almost everything is possible...if you want to invest the time, effort and accept a fair degree of frustration along the way. But it is at least worth consideration ...especially that the Atari blaocks are not always so easy to get going properly in the first instance.

Shame i cant get the pic to come up.

    Q. Will the 85 Maxim XJ 700 X Gauges mount straight on to an 81 xj750 crown? Not too concerned about the wiring i can sort that out, just the mounting.
    Thanks,
    Greg

The thread is from April 2012 and it seems like the poster has removed the image from his album.

You're right.....I removed the pic. Just had to clean up a bit. I don't think I even have a copy of the pic on my computer. I'll check to see what I might have saved on a disc somewhere when I have the time.
