Can anyone tell me what the 2 small holes inside the carb body are for , just above the butterfly valve and before the single (similar size) air / mixture hole ?

I believe they are part of the fuel pilot circuit system. Not sure I said that correctly, but anyway, I'm talking about the fuel circuit controlled by the pilot screws.

Check out Inside Your Carbs. Page 19 shows the pilot circuit feed holes in greater detail.

Thanks for the article refer. I have cleaned these carbs about 12 times, with varying problems. Last night when I took them off noticed these small holes - cleaned them out real good today and put carbs back on bike. Confirmed floats good by wet sync. Initially had trouble idling but was eventually able to sync the carbs. Then did color tune, sync carbs again and colortune one more time. Bike is now running real well. Will check again tomorrow, hopefully same results. Want to see how it fires up when cold.

Thanks for all the help ... Have really enjoyed working on this even if frustrating at times.
