Weak below 2500 RPMs (Jets?)

    So I recently bought some new old carbs for my xj 550 seca. I did a thorough cleaning, bench synched and it runs pretty decent, except for anything below 2500. The reason this sucks is because in order for me to take off from a stop I have to slip the clutch in while revving it to 2500+, if I don't I almost stall.

    Don't the main jets kick in around 2500? What controls below that?

    Wait whoa back up slow down.

    Float levels accurately wet-set? (This is a biggie.)
    Bench sync'ed?
    VALVES IN SPEC?
    Running vacuum sync, with YICS blocked?

    Just a bench sync on a 550 won't cut it; you'll need to get it properly vac sync'ed for which the valves need to be in spec.

    And none of that will work well at all if the float levels aren't accurate.
