compression of sitting engine

    my engine i got has been sitting for 10 years still turns over and hitting 150,139,140,150 on compression is that good?

    Those numbers are not different enough to be a concern. What you need to be concerned about is a difference of more than 10% (around 14psi.) Those aren't bad numbers for a motor that's been sitting.

    Get the valves in spec and re-test; I'll betcha #2 and #3 come up a bit.

    OK I SAW ONE OF YOUR FORUMS FOR THE VALVE THE ONLY PART THAT CONFUSES ME IS THE SHIMS, WHERE WILL I GET THEM IF I NEED THEM,

    AL O IM HAVING ALOT OF TROUBLE WITH THE CARBS IM SORTA LOST ON HOW TO SYNC THEM UP THEY BEEN CLEANED BUT THEY ARE SO OUT OF SYNC ALMOST DUMPING GAS.

    The work you do by following the manuals should. You can order shims from XJ4Ever, once you know what sizes you need; or a couple of forum members run a "shim pool."

    my girl might drive my bike wont touch the road till i have it completely done valves clearance, tires, brakes, brake lines, master cylinder, all the oils, the worst part im stuck on is when it comes to carbs to me its a lost language that i dont understand like pig Latin.

    i mean she might drive me in her "car" not bike lol my truck is in the shop where i work my lifters were failing.
