Was just discussing this in my "suggestions wanted" post.

    http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic ... tml#350531

Need to send an "xjbikes.com plea" letter to Yamaha. Tell them to read around here for a while and then ask themselves why the xjr is not coming our way.

Too bad I can't read Russian to see what they are talking about. I'll just about bet the reason why we don't have those bikes here is because of some goofy rule our goverment has and they won't let them in the country. Probably some EPA emmissions thing. I do know that Germany has tighter laws about emmissions than California. Supposedly that's why Ford does not bring the diesel powered Transit Connect into this country, or at least that's what they tell me. Our company uses those in the gas powered version and they get 24 mpg but from what we understand the diesel that's available everywhere else gets over 50 mpg.
It would be interesting to hear from Yamaha to hear the real story on this. I'm sure if they thought they would sell here they would have them at the dealers.

What browser are you using? Chrome will ask if you want to translate when you go to a foreign web site. I don't know if IE or Mozilla does.

    It's a 1,250 CC engine "de-tuned" to 100 HP with fuel injection -
compare to my FJR 1300, has 145 HP (maybe at the crank?)

There should be no problem meeting USofA emissions.

Maybe Yamaha is worried it would take away from R1 sales ??

Your are right TtR emissions isn't the reason. Of course over here there would be a push to remove the de-tuning since we don't restrict HP like they do overseas.

No doubt it is some sort of marketing thing, but it would sell over here as what was once popular has come back again-that style is in demand.

Huh? I just meant that there were more bike photos.

A nice clear rear view of one on the beach on page 3 for instance.

XJR's, Russia, Australia and the Babes, doesn't matter because most of us don't have the money for either. LOL
