I all I am in S A, I would like to know if there is a replacement carburetter for the XJ750, I have the Hitachi carbs but they have been played with by some idiot and i have tried every bit of advice that i have read on the forum, but still cannot get carbs set properly, best I have got to is reasonable idle, no power and miss up to 2-2500 rpm, then magic performance all the way from there up. any further advise I can get will help as have got the bike for 8 months and still not had a decent ride on it.

    Welcome to the site !!

There's no replacements - new racks sell for $1,200 on E-bay, when they are found.

Sounds like you did not sonic-clean the carbs, specifically, the tiny "transfer ports" located at the butterfly, near the Pilot screw.

You need to pick a wire thru these ports and clean this internal passage that has no access points !! It flows aerated fuel, metered by the #40 Pilot jet. You may have other problems too.

Thanks, but no one here wants to sonic clean they will not touch an old bike in any way, but will try what you said with wire in ports.

    Where's S A

    get on Craigslist - motorcycles
type in min (blank) max ($50)

Then you get a listing of random parts and - occasionally - a local enthusiast looking for work - that's your buddy, or he could be a scumbag. Proceed with caution.

I bought a large sonic cleaner from harbor freight to clean my carbs. Used Yamalube carb cleaner dip for the solution. They came out looking brand new.

That's funny, I read it as "South America." :p And I spent time in another SA in Texas: San Angelo. Or it could be "San Angeles" from the movie Demolition Man, but that seems unlikely.

Ahh - "carburettor" - S A = South Africa. I hear the accent now.

Does Craigslist work in other countries??

I'm thinking of getting the HF sonic cleaner too.

You don't need to worry about a shop 'not touching an old bike'. Trust us, you DON'T want them to do that, anyway. YOU want to learn it all, so that YOU know how to fix YOUR bike. Then YOU will become the guru of old bikes:)

That all being said, read the posts on 'Church of Clean' that have been pointed out to you. You CAN do it yourself, and it will only take two things:

Time, and Care. Take your time, and be CAREful. Don't rush. Get some egg cartons or something similar that you can set everything out equally for each carb. Also take lots of pics or at least make lots of drawings.

You CAN do it, many here have taken the leap of faith only to find out that the carbs aren't that difficult.

if you have questions, DO come ask us.....we'll help you straighten things out if you get something mixed up.

these carbs are cake man. defo try picking those tiny holes at the top of the butterfly. get a really small gauge stranded wire and put a long strand in there. just be careful to not let it break off in there. meaning do it gently. this is what ive always done on carbs . also compressed air helps alot! . works great. trust you will get it.
