    ok guys i have a 82 xj750seca
i have cleaned the carbs adjusted the valves new battery ,oil change ,new spark plugs and cables
    also new stator and brushes
by the way its has pods and jets are 125 with open headers and she runs good but my only problem is that it wont start on its own like when its cold or has been sitting for a while
i just spray some carb cleaner and she fires right up
only thing i haven't done is synch the carbs due to the lack of knowledge and in a budget :x
if anyone knows how to i am in orange county CA and would like to learn :D

Keep in mind here, I'm pretty new at this too. I'm no XJ Wizard but here's my 2 cents:

If your petcock is like mine (I think it is), then you have a 3-position petcock. Up is for "Reserve", Right is for "Prime", and down is for "Run". If the bike has been sitting for awhile in the Run or Reserve position you need to flip it to prime for 10-15 secends or so to fill the carb bowls with fuel and give it full "choke" for a good start.

Believe it or not, synching the carbs is easy stuff. You did bench synch them after cleaning, right? If you check my bike thread in my signature, you'll find a picture of the manometer I made for about $15 bucks (if you count the $5 for trannie fluid). All you need is some clear tubing , a stick, some zip ties, and a little bit of trannie fluid. I think I used about 10 feet of 3/8" ID tube with some 8 foot 1/4" ID extensions on each end to reduce the air flow and connect to the carb boot nipples. Just connect each end of the tube to the carbs and make VERY SMALL adjustments until the fluid level evens out on either side of the gauge. There's a couple youtube vids out there than can be helpful too.

    Good luck!

    Is this with full choke?

    Did you set your floats?

Choke circuitry 100% surgically microscopically clean?

These bikes hate cold starts as it is, the pods are going to make that even more apparent.

BTW, I was born in Orange County. I miss that place.

Just remember that you can't sync effectively if the valves aren't in spec; and if it's a YICS motor, you'll need to block off the YICS correctly as well.

The orifice in enrichment well of the float bowls is the first thing that plugs up. If they're plugged your "choke" is useless.
