I just wanted to say a HUGE thanx to everybody that gets on this page and the creators of it as well.
I recently took my xj650 to the dealership to have work done on it. They called me later and told me that I needed, my Master cylinder rebuilt (it was not pumping out enough pressure), Brake hoses replaced (they were flexing), and the front Caliper needed to be rebuilt (the piston sticks and so the brake pad squeaks while riding). I said "that would explain why the brakes are real spongy" (it's my first Bike), "so how much will it be to fix it?"
They said "We can't get parts for your bike". well needless to say I was Heartbroken!!!!!! I LOVE my bike......
I started researching the web trying to see if I could find any parts for my bike. I then stumbled upon this page after catching a link of www.chopperunderground.com

I have now ordered all of my parts and am simply waiting to receive them so I can get my bike back up to speed.

    You guys rock!!!

Get your baby fixed and save yourself a heap of cash doing it yourself. We'll show you the way.

Sad, ain't it? Coolest bikes on earth and shops won't touch 'em. (But I will) Welcome to the forum BTW!

Xjeff650, what dealership did you take your XJ to? Have you heard of anyone in the area that WILL work on our old unloved bikes?

The Dealership's in a bind. They'd rather give you a lame excuse and send you packing than lose time and money working on your bike.

In the amount of time it would have taken a Top Wrench to do the shopping-list of stuff you needed done to get your bike up to snuff; the same guy will close-out several work orders on the new bikes.

The new bikes are all "Plug-'n-Play" They hook-up the bike, run a diagnostic program, enter what needs to be swapped-out and in a few minutes the parts are sitting on his toolbox shelf.

The problem is ... that Tech's never made much money working on an XJ-Series Bike.
Most XJ-Bike's were at the Dealership; twice.
Once when they un-crated it and sold it while it was being prepped.
A few days later when the owner brought it back for the post break-in tweaks.

Then, the only bikes that came back for a visit were those owned by guys who couldn't wrench and didn't have a relative or friend who do stuff for them.

The bulletproof, inline four, DOHC, Shafties didn't need much more than gas!

So ... you can see how you showing-up ... 25-years later ... make 'em feel.

We'll fix it better than they would, anyhow!
