What size socket do I need for the sparkplugs on an '82 750 Maxim? My socket set came with a 5/8" plug socket but that's too small. It's a bit bigger than a 3/4" wrench I have. I didn't see anything about size in the user's manual.

    Anyone?

    thanks,
    mikeg

Metric Buddy Metric. I think its a 14mm socket with an extender that;ll work.

Ok, I knew that all of the bolts and allen nuts were metric, didn't realize that the spark plugs were.

    thanks,

SAE variety would be 13/16" for the stock NGK's

Confirm 13/16" spark plug wrench for 82 750 Seca. Buy a nice one, not the $1 POS.

I went to Sears at lunch and picked up a Craftsman 13/16 spark plug socket. I checked it against a plug and it fit.

A daub of anti-seize on the threads, torque to 11-14 ft/lbs and you are set. Ensure they are BP7ES NGKs gapped at 0.028-0.032".

definitly 13/16", its not metric (measured them with a caliper and got 20.6mm); I had bought a 14mm plug socket but the 14mm refers to thread diameter (not socket size)

but, Im guessing (since its been 3 years since the last action on this thread) that my input was unnecessary - oops!
