When I first got my XJ, the damn thing would not start under 55 degrees. Armed With the advice and tutorials on this site I can enjoy riding until the snow flies.
Most weekends I use my bike to go fishing in the morning.
It was 36 with 100 percent humidity Saturday and the bike fired up within a couple turns of the starter. Sunday was 34 and it started the same way.
I have a full fairing and good riding gear and stay comfortable (as long as I stay off the freeway).

I took a spin around on sunday, as it was nice, but too chilly for small windshield. I drove an XT500 to work here in Northern MI for a whole winter when I was 18, but I dressed like I was snowmobiling.

Glad to hear the skoot is running good.

clean carbs, good strong compression, well tuned, and a heated garage doesn't hurt ;) mine doesn't like the cold either

I'm riding from Washington to Austin right now, currently in Portland... heated jacket is a godsend. Heavy gloves, balaclava, full face... and that it's me by.
