Hi, wondering if anyone in Oz has a spare set of rear crash bars for the XJ750 to go on my police special. I have just brought a set of fiberglass panniers and they need some protection.

Many thanks in advance but i fear they might be as rare as hens teeth, i have given some thought how to make them but am feeling lazy atm.

Are they similar to the NZ Police panniers?

I'm looking for a spare set for mine, although the cop panniers are a sort of polycarbonate/plastic.

    Heres mine prior to paint.

No Johnno nothing like original, i couldn't be so lucky.

I got these on eBay for $20 and $60 shipping from Sydney, just have to glass up the indicator holes and fit led's instead and make a proper mount at the front to bolt on as the ones supplied were for a different bike.

I want to protect them if the bike gets dropped (god forbid) i have looked everywhere but can't find anything close.

On your rear crashbars i see the pannier twin chrome bars that wrap around look to be welded to the bar in front of the panniers.

I think i am just after a plain set of bars that bolt from the top of the rear shocks and the rear foot peg mount hole, any additional wrap on the side won't clear my odd shape panniers.

Wow, thanks for the photos [edit] :? darkfibre, as i have not seen them in the flesh that helps a lot with a good close up.
    My bikes brother there...

Would be a pity to cut up original bars for my panniers.. but i'm up for it if you are... Not even? lol

I shall tackle making a set of bars probably next year at work on the bender. After some thought ill go a set of alloy bars as it's easy- no chrome needed just elbow grease for the polish, and scrapes, dents, and bends can be fixed just the same as metal.
As for the strength- it's a non issue as it's just there to protect the fiberglass panniers from folding like a tissue if the bike gets dropped, at speed is a different matter- that's why i insure. :D

Will be able to match the bars to the angle of my panniers, i just need to try laying the bike over and find where the side will hit the ground first to work out the bar dimensions.

I knew  all along i would have to customize it.

Had the wapol pic on my desktop, but i prefer this one- got those weird Aussie 650 turbo rims on..

    Is that Perth?
