ok, so the stock filter is about 30 years old and has probably seen better days.
I can get either a stock paper filter or a K+N washable filter.

I do note however that the K+N may require a rejet. (just looking at Chacals writings)

I do like a washable filter but dont know that I can be bothered mucking around with jetting...... so....

What say you good peoples with regards to air filter elements ... paper or washable K+N ?

the original air filter (and I think it is ORIGINAL too.... :? )

Paper - I'm presuming you're not doing a million miles a year anyway RU?

I have the K&N, came with the bike, no complaints. No re-jetting that I know of. But if it hadn't come with it I probably would have gone paper, based on this forum. I've cleaned and re-oiled it twice in four years.

Let's say...maybe 15,000 miles. It's really hard to say, I'm not on my original odometer and my speedo reads slower than I'm going, leading me to believe my odo reads fewer miles than I travel as well. Regardless, a little cleaning and the filter is good as new, so that's a plus in my book.

    Paper.

Explaining all of the downsides to the K&N will take way too much typing this early in the morning.

Paper. Spend a couple extra bucks and get OEM.
