    I'm still new to the XJ and my Seca needs a lot of TLC. I'm looking for a few parts and I've scoured ebay and some craigslist adds.
    Does any one know where I can get the right and left side engine covers?? I've found some in decent shape, but nothing that is scratch free and no pairs. I need both sides. They can be smooth or have the YICS on them, it doesn't matter to me. I'm going to black them eventually any ways.
    I also need a front right brake caliper and rotor. The one I have was seized up and then crowbared off by the previous owner, leaving it almost useless. Seems one of the pistons decided it was a good day to die. The inside surface of the caliper is all chewed up now and not really useable.

    Thanks for any help

    Calipers try XJ4Ever, (Click the link in the upper right of the page) he has most parts for these old bike. I seem to recall that he has some covers listed in his catalog as well. But not sure. Honestly though that cover that you showed the picture of is not bad. Little cleaning and that looks like it would be good as new. But pictures are decieving. Good luck!

    That cover is FINE it simply needs to be refinished, I don't see any gouges or road rash.

    Strip with Aircraft Paint remover to get rid of the old clearcoat (the corrosion is UNDER it;)

    Sand, beginning with about 800-wet, then 1200 then 2000;

    then polish it.

    You can get new "YICS" plates from XJ4Ever if you're so inclined.

    This one specifically has a couple dents down at the bottom and a dent or puncture about 3/4" above the M. It's not in bad shape, I agree. But I would like to get two matching ones. I don't want one to be smooth and the other to have the YICS on it. I'm looking through XJ4Ever, I feel dumb for not looking sooner. Thanks for the tips and help guys, this is definitely why I come here.

    Ahh, gotcha. I see the little hole now.

    Just don't be turned off by the grey "mottling" alone on used/eBay parts; that can easily be defeated, and minor road rash can be sanded out.

    I've got the covers on my bike that I'm switching out for some X covers. I'd give you a steal on them, and they're in much nicer shape than those. PM me for info.

    On Front Brake Calipers....what will fit?
    ONLY calipers from a matching 1982 XJ650r Seca?

    or will a caliper from a '82 Seca Turbo or Maxim or 650 L work? all three are on ebay and I need a front right one to replace the scrapped one I have.

    I think i remember reading the Turbo won't work as they used a different caliper and the Maxim one because the mounting bolts don't line up. Or am I wrong?

    thanks!

    Maverick has the correct answer.
