Reassembly of the front brake REMOTE MOUNTED Master Cylinder??

As the Master was removed and the stuck parts pulled out the piston broke and the pressure from the spring shot everything out onto the workspace. Unfortunately this created a situation where a "before" picture was not the greatest reference. The rebuild kit has now arrived and inspired a question.

How does the O/ring, V-Seal looking thing mount onto the piston itself?

Does it go on with the solid section facing North and the indented section facing south?

    Vice Versa?

The rest of the process is well documented and diagrammed.

The open sides of the seals face "inward" just like on a horizontally-oriented M/C.

    Talk about Deja Vu!

I actually read all through your braking thread looking for pics or answers to this question and that is the company that I got the kit from, AND that is the diagram that confirmed the rest of the assembly process.

However, in that illustrastration (same in workshop manual) it does not clearly show or describe the directional orientation of the seal/piston assembly. We do understand that the flat side of the piston points "UP" or into the chamber. But...

When assembling these two pieces to each other:

Does the top of the "V" point up into the chamber as well?
