    Recently got a little package from XJ4Ever, looky what Len has been up to:

    My camera was having a heck of time with the color because of my crappy garage lighting but they are RIGHT ON; this pic shows the best:

    Taped onto an NOS cover on my '83. They are slightly glossier than the originals but the color is dead-on.

    Per Len:

    HCP19165 Aftermarket left or right side OIL PUMP COVER EMBLEM "YICS", embossed black rectangular emblem with raised red lettering. For all YICS motors (XJ550, 1982-up XJ650 Maxim and Turbo, XJ750 air-cooled, 1983 XJ900, and XJ1100 models. Uses supplied adhesive backing to mount emblem. NOTE: you must remove all traces of prior adhesive from the cover before installing new emblems. Each:
    $ 18.95

    HCP19165SET2 Aftermarket left or right side OIL PUMP COVER EMBLEMS "YICS", embossed black rectangular emblem with raised red lettering. Set of 2:
    $ 34.95

    Len noticed I was missing one from my XJ750 and suggested he include one in my last order.
    His product has reached Australia.... tis very nice

    Kr......you can place them directly over the original emblems, but the additional height will then make the new emblem "stand proud" of the face of the oil pump cover (which is actually a kind of neat look); of course, the original design has the emblems recessed into their little cavity.

    If you wish to place the emblems on top of the original ones, make sure to use some emblem adhesive during installation, as the double-sided tape backing that comes on the repro emblems is probably not sufficient enough (not enough contact area onto just the raised letters of the original emblems) to obtain a secure, long-lasting installation (i.e. so it doesn't fly off at 80mph....).

    I find this to be very bad news. Mine are badly faded, which happens to match the rest of the bike. If I get new ones I'll have to tear the whole thing down LOL

    C'mon, people............if you're gonna replace the faded piece with the new piece, don't stick it on top of the old one. The old one is simply stuck on to begin with. Carefully pry/lift a corner of the old badge so that you can work your way across and remove it. Clean the surface of the old adhesive, and now you can install the new plate cleanly and smoothly.

    even better, take this opportunity to strip, polish, and repaint the covers.

    they do nothing but just keep out debris, so you can keep riding in the process if need be.

    Mine was just like new until my friend tried to clean it. He rubbed the red off with a pad. I was going to paint the red letters.
    This looks good.

    I wouldn't recommend riding with the ignition pickups hanging out...

    meh, I rode a couple miles to the hardware store to get the stainless allen bolts that I replaced the stock phillips JIS headed bolts with.

    If anything It would be easy to make a temporary cover with some sheet metal, tin snips, and a drill press.
