Everytime I go away for more than a week, I miss you guys!

Also my bike won't start :S.

I just rebuilt the carbs with a kit from Chacal, the big one, breaking the racks and all.

Everything is back in place, the float levels are good, the battery is fully charged, the plugs spark, the starter revs and then... nothing. It doesn't go anywhere.

My dad told me it's probably because there's no more gas anywhere in the system so I should probably keep the starter going a little, but... is that right? His last carb rebuild was 30 years ago... (Ok, I just realized it was right around the time of these bikes...)

    Any clue?

Missing some info to be able to help me?

This will sound stupid but make sure your petcock is in the prime set. If I'm NoT mistake it should self prime if all is set right with your carbs. U just have to leave your fuel on prime for a bit.... but if you have done this then I would check all your floats and your gas...... if all checks out I will say check your bowels see if they are even getting gas and if they are getting gas you might have a jet problem maybe but I don't think so... now I'm not the best with these bikes but that's the most common problem with any Carb I ever worked with.. but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I would think if that was my case

If the carbs are empty, put the petcock on PRI and wait for the bowls to fill up before starting. Also, engage the choke.

    Billed,

Are you sure everything is re-connected correctly? Fuel lines, vacuum hose, enrichment circuit cable, throttle cable, clutch cable, ht caps, etc.? Are you switching your petcock to prime and opening your ec all the way then to half way before you push the start button? Is the bike in neutral? If not, are you pulling the clutch in before you push the start button? Got oil? If you've done all of these and have done "too" much of it you may have "too" much fuel in the cylinders. Pull the plugs and see if they're fowled. Change your plugs and try it again.

    Gary

    Bench sync?

Valves in spec, and you did a compression test on the motor?

Thanks everyone for your patience with newcomers like me! This was awesome, the feeling when it started running!

    Congratulations!

Don't stop there. As long as your valve clearances are in spec, the next step is your running vacuum sync (with YICS blocked.)
